Patient registration

At your first appointment, you will need to complete patient registration details, which includes details of your:
– phone and email
– private health insurance membership
– medicare number
– regular GP contact information
– WorkCover claim details (if relevant)

This can be completed electronically here

Clinic appointments

At your first appointment, you will need to provide
– copies of your referral letter
– any previous imaging studies (Xray, CT, MRI)
– any previous surgery details (if relevant)

Please wear loose fitting pants or shorts, so as to make examination easier.

Surgeon's fee

Before booking your surgery, we we will provide a detailed, itemised quote of surgical fees which includes an estimate of the combined Private health insurance and Medicare rebates. Medicare rebates also apply to clinic appointments which we will submit electronically on your behalf.

What if I don't have health insurance?

In addition to the surgeon and anaesthetist fees, private hospitals charge fees which cover the admission and theatre costs, implant costs and associated costs (pharmacy, physiotherapy, Xrays, blood tests). These are usually covered by Private Health insurance.

If you do not have Private Health insurance, then these direct costs can be very significant.  We provide a detailed quote outlining the surgeon’s fee, and will contact the hospital to request a detailed hospital fee quote.

Do I need a referral?

To qualify for medicare rebates, a valid referral is required from your doctor (GP, Emergency physician or other specialist).

You can make an appointment with a referral from your physiotherapist, however medicare rebates will not apply.
